Personnel Committee

Purpose (Scope of Ministry): To assist the church in matters relating to personnel administration and management. These matters will include such areas as employment, salaries, benefits, problems, and personnel services.

Basic Objectives: 

  1. To insure that personnel policies are clearly stated and understood by all staff members
  2. To maintain personnel records
  3. To assist the Pastor as needed in regard to personnel related matters

Ministry Team Composition Requirements:

  • Church Membership: Yes (must be members for at least year)
  • Chairman: Selected by Nominating Committee and elected by church body
  • Length of service: 3 year term
  • Main Staff Contact: Senior Pastor
  • Other Requirements:
    • Committee members cannot be family members of church staff

General Responsibilities:

  • Consider need for additional staff positions
  • Prepare and update, as necessary, job descriptions
  • Prepare and maintain organizational chart
  • Prepare and maintain employment contracts
  • Develop and recommend to church body personnel related policies
  • Annually recommend salary adjustments during budgeting process
  • Periodically review and recommend adjustments to staff benefits

Measurements of Effectiveness:

  1. Timely submission of annual staff salary budget recommendations
  2. Maintenance of personnel records
  3. Staff members are treated with care
  4. Staff morale is high
