Missions Committee

Purpose (Scope of Ministry): To maximize the involvement in and support of mission efforts on the part of the entire church

Basic Objectives:

  1. Involve the entire church body in mission efforts on local, state, national and/or global levels
  2. Provide opportunities for personal involvement of church members in mission efforts
  3. Assist the church in undergirding mission causes through prayer and financial support

 Ministry Team Composition Requirements:

  • Church Membership: Yes
  • Chairman: Selected by Nominating Committee and elected by church body
  • Length of service: 3 year term and may not serve consecutive terms
  • Main Staff Contact: Senior Pastor
  • Other Requirements:
    • Elected positions must practice good stewardship on a personal level

General Responsibilities:

  1. Working with pastors, discover mission opportunities (global, national, local) for the church body
  2. Recommend appropriate levels of participation by the church in mission causes (local, state, national, and global)
  3. Coordinate promotion, development, and implementation of church mission trips and other projects, including financial oversight of all mission trip budgets and expenditures
  4. Recommend goals for and coordinate promotion of mission offerings
  5. In coordination with finance committee, recommend and oversee policies for financial support of persons participating in mission trips
  6. Make annual budget recommendations to the Finance Committee and manage expenses against approved budget

Measurements of Effectiveness:

  • The number of church members personally involved in missions increases annually
  • Financial support of mission offerings increases annually
  • A continuing strategic partnership is underway both internationally and domestically
