“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” —1 Corinthians 12:27 (ESV)
There’s no such thing as a sideline Christian. From the moment God calls us to Himself, He calls us to serve. We’re not saved to sit—we’re saved to serve. The Christian life is not a spectator sport.
In 1 Corinthians 12, we see God, in His perfect wisdom, has fitted the body of Christ together—each member uniquely shaped, each gift intentionally given. No part is unnecessary; every role matters—for building up the church, caring for others, and glorifying God.
Paul urges us in Philippians 2 to, “in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” This selflessness is the evidence of grace at work. To be Christlike is to be a servant—Jesus came not to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28).
So the question isn’t if you’re called to serve, but how. How will God use your gifts in the church, in caring for others, and in spreading the Gospel?
There are many ways to use your gifts in our church family. As the new ministry year approaches, our Nominating Committee is looking to connect church members with vital roles of service.
