Greeter Ministry Team

Purpose (Scope of Ministry): To welcome and direct people as they enter the building and render such assistance as may be necessary to ensure the basic comforts of all persons attending worship services and other church functions

 Basic Objectives: Ensure we provide a great first and lasting impression on our guests from the moment they arrive on our property until they leave

 Ministry Team Composition Requirements:

  • Church Membership:
    • Team captains must be members of Staples Mill Road Baptist Church
    • Team members can be made up of church members or non-member regular attenders. Team members will be recruited and supervised by a team captain who is recruited by the Nominating Committee as needed
  • Team captains are elected to lead this ministry
  • Length of service: 1 year term
  • Main Staff Contact: Associate Pastor for Discipleship & Administration
  • Other Requirements:
    • The ministry is organized into 4 (or more) teams with 8-10 greeters per team, with each team lead by an elected team captain.
  • Volunteers should possess a pleasant personality, warm spirit, courteous manner and willingness to serve others.

 General Responsibilities:

  1. Be present at main entrances to the building prior to Life Group/Sunday School and worship services to greet members and visitors and to provide guidance as necessary.
  2. Create an atmosphere of genuine welcome and concern for all attending the services.
  3. Inform the Senior Pastor or other staff members of any individuals or families entering about whom they should have knowledge.
  4. Give assistance to persons needing special attention both on arrival and departure.

 Measurements of Effectiveness:

  • All people attending SMRBC feel welcome
  • Receive consistent feedback of “friendliness” and “helpfulness” on guest surveys

At Home Ministry Team

Purpose (Scope of Ministry): To visit any member of the church who is not able to physically get to church

Basic Objectives:

  1. To provide Christian fellowship with remembering, singing, viewing and/or taking photos, and sharing food
  2. To ask for prayer concerns and pray with them
  3. To remember them on special occasions as birthdays, Easter and Christmas with small gifts
  4. To read scripture to them
  5. To call or send cards as we see the need

 Ministry Team Composition Requirements:

  • Church Membership: Yes (Chairman), No (Team Members)
  • Chairman: Selected by Nominating Committee and elected by church body
  • Length of service: 1 year term
  • Main Staff Contact: Senior Pastor
  • Other Requirements:
    • Attend an organizational meeting at the beginning of each church year
    • Make visits and report on them to the chairperson or church office

 General Responsibilities:

  1. Visit in person or call homebound member monthly
  2. Keep updating office and chairman about the status of each homebound person
  3. Make annual budget recommendations to the Finance Committee and manage expenses against approved budget
  4. Turn in receipts of items purchased to chairman for budget and reimbursement
  5. Help plan birthday party for homebound member

Measurements of Effectiveness:

  • Homebound members feel connected to the body of believers at our church.
  • Homebound members will enjoy fellowship of other believers while being at home.
  • Prayer concerns of the member will be remembered by other believers.
